Many times an individual website can go down without the whole server failing and will be undetectable by the hosting service provider.

There are many reasons why a website may not function properly. 

We have seen cases where the hosting company has turn off a website, because your website exceeded certain limits, eg monthly bandwidth, or disk space quota.  Other times there can be programming errors that cause a failure, but only under certain condition, for example, traffic overload.  There are other cases when your hosting service provider has a catastrophic server failure or communication line failure.  Unfortunately, in many cases you will never know.  Many times we can get your service up and running before you ever know it was down.

We check the response time of your specific website and monitor trends.  Also, we keep a cumulative record of uptime and down time as compared to other sites.
